This course is for experienced operatives who wish to undertake commercial gas work. The COCN1 module is normally undertaken as part of the Core Commercial gas Safety Course.  The course is for experienced operatives who wish to undertake commercial gas work.

This qualification or the domestic to commercial changeover qualification (CODNCO1) is a prerequisite to undertaking the commercial appliances and testing and purging assessments.

This course includes training and assessment on the following: 

•  COCN1 – Core Commercial Gas Safety

The course is for experienced operatives who wish to undertake commercial gas work. Operatives must hold the Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) qualification. The CODNCO1 module is normally undertaken as part of the Core Commercial gas Safety Course.

This qualification or the Core Commercial Gas Safety (COCN1) qualification is a prerequisite to undertaking the commercial appliances and testing and purging assessments.

This course includes training and assessment on the following:

• CODNCO1 – Domestic to Commercial Changeover

This gas safety assessment is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative by practical and knowledge and understanding assessment in the work of testing and direct purging of pipework (or sections of pipework) downstream of a primary meter control valve having:-

A volume of not exceeding 1 cubic metre including any meter and any allowance for fittings. An operating pressure not exceeding 21 mbar (nominal) at the outlet of the primary meter regulator and a diameter not exceeding 150 mm. The operating pressure at the inlet of the primary meter regulator does not exceed 75 mbar. 

This assessment will not assess testing for soundness and direct purging outside the range listed above and it may be preferable for operatives to instead undertake category TPCP1 below. 

Pre-requisite to this assessment – Prior to this assessment the candidate must hold a Certificate of Competence in the following or be undergoing the assessment at the time.
 

• Commercial Core Gas Safety Assessment – COCN1
  OR
• Commercial Core Gas Safety Assessment – CoDNCO1.

This gas safety assessment for systems not exceeding 7 bar in pressure for natural gas is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative. This will be by practical a knowledge and understanding assessment, in the work of testing and purging of all sizes of pipework commencing downstream of the meter control valve to the position of usage or the termination of the installation pipework and for installations without meter will apply to all pipework downstream of the emergency control valve.

Pre-requisite to this assessment – Prior to taking this assessment the candidate must hold a Certificate of Competence in the following:
 

• Commercial Core Gas Safety Assessment – COCN1
  OR
• Commercial Core Gas Safety Assessment – CoDNCO1.

This gas safety assessment is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative, by practical and knowledge and understanding assessment, in the first fixing of commercial installation pipework, steel, copper and polythene and fittings above 35mm (1″) up to 150 mm (6″) bore.

Pre-requisite to this assessment – Prior to taking this assessment the candidate must hold a Certificate of Competence in the following:
 

• Commercial Core Gas Safety Assessment – COCN1
  OR
• Commercial Core Gas Safety Assessment – CoDNCO1.

This gas safety assessment is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in the work of commission, service, repair and breakdown of commercial overhead radiant luminous plaque heaters and type A (flueless) and type B (flued) overhead radiant tube heaters by practical and knowledge and understanding assessment.

Pre-requisite to this assessment – Prior to taking this assessment the candidate must hold a Certificate of Competence in the following:
 

• Commercial Core Gas Safety Assessment –
• Commercial Core Gas Safety Assessment – CoDNCO1.
• Installation first fix Commercial Pipework – ICPN1  (Required if pipework exceeds 35mm diameter)
• ACS Commercial Gas Test and Purge  – TPCP1A  AND/OR
• ACS Commercial Gas Test and Purge  – TPCP1

Assessment duration: up to ½ day (Theory and practical assessments)

This gas safety assessment is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in the work of commission, service, repair and breakdown of commercial gas fired forced convection air heaters and gas fired hot water boilers of rated inputs between 60 kW and 2 mw by practical and knowledge and understanding assessment.

Pre-requisite to this assessment – Prior to taking this assessment the candidate must hold a Certificate of Competence in the following:
 

• Commercial Core Gas Safety Assessment –
• Commercial Core Gas Safety Assessment – CoDNCO1.
• Installation first fix Commercial Pipework – ICPN1  (Required if pipework exceeds 35mm diameter)
• ACS Commercial Gas Test and Purge  – TPCP1A
  AND/OR
• ACS Commercial Gas Test and Purge  – TPCP1

Assessment duration: up to ½ day (Theory and practical assessments)

This gas safety assessment is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in the work of commission, service, repair and breakdown of all direct fired forced convection commercial heating equipment with either 100% fresh air supply or re-circulated air with forced draught or atmospheric burners by practical and knowledge and understanding assessment.

Pre-requisite to this assessment – Prior to taking this assessment the candidate must hold a Certificate of Competence in the following:
 

• Commercial Core Gas Safety Assessment –
• Commercial Core Gas Safety Assessment – CoDNCO1.
• Commercial overheat radiant tube heaters – CORT1
• Commercial Indirect Fired Heating Appliances & Equipment – CIGA1
• Installation first fix Commercial Pipework – ICPN1  (Required if pipework exceeds 35mm diameter)
• ACS Commercial Gas Test and Purge  – TPCP1A
  AND/OR
• ACS Commercial Gas Test and Purge  – TPCP1
